So there’s been a couple of announcements re the military today in the Conservative conference.
Detour from Scottish politics today as I see the current Westminster government are continuing their attempts to take England back to the 1950s by allowing grammar schools to expand, new ones open and introduce selection. (As if that wasn’t already happening in some Academies.)
Anyone who follows my Twitter account will know my daughter has started at her local senior school this morning. It seems that this is a bigger deal for her father and me than for her. She and a friend went off this morning chattering away comparing (slightly oversized) blazers and the obviously cool number of pockets they contained.
Today my daughter starts her transition week from primary to senior school, I don’t think this is something that happens in English schools. I’m not even sure how far it occurs in Scottish ones, but it’s something I fully approve of.

Honest, it will be only a few words (with a scattering of links)
As far as I can tell, there are a couple of issues regarding the closure of Edinburgh schools (and possibly other schools, hospitals and anything else built under the Labour/Lib Dem PPP scheme)
